What is Basa?  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
Literally, a wonderful-tasting catfish; Technically, Pangasius bocourti, native to the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam! Basa is a type of catfish that doesn't really taste like the catfish we grew up with in the United States. Basa is a fish that my family LOVES and really can''t get enough of.

Stuffed Cabbage  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (3)
It's cabbage leaves stuffed with meat -- beef, lamb or pork -- along with spices and rice! One of my fondest food memories growing up is watching my grandmother make Stuffed Cabbage ... and then, of course, eating it! She had a secret ingredient that made her cabbage rolls the best I've ever had!

Hungarian Goulash  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (1)
Where is the beef? Well, it just might be in the Hungarian Goulash! Do you remember having stew as a child? I hope you liked it! It sure seems like I used to have lots of stew when I was younger. Think of this as stew, Hungarian style--that's Hungarian Goulash.

STARBUCKS vs. DUNKIN\' DONUTS: Coffee WARS!  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
Did you hear that STARBUCKS recently closed for 3 hours for employee training to refocus on making better coffee? Well, I'm sure glad that I had my coffee fix already that day as I'm not sure where I would have gone for my coffee. You see, I think STARBUCKS has the best coffee.

LIMBURGER Cheese: Yummy or Stinky?  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
I absolutely LOVE the taste of Limburger Cheese. Yes, it is YUMMY and delicious with a slice of onion on a fresh piece of rye bread. I have been loving this pungent cheese since I was a wee one in Northeastern Ohio. It seems though that every time I open a package of Limburger, the men in my life ALL seem to think I have 'cut the cheese!'

Chicken Red Curry: Thai Style!  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
I personally love Thai style red curry chicken that's about an 8.5 on the hot scale ... how about you? I have been making Thai style chicken red curry for several years that I've pretty much got it down to a science. And that's just what I need when we are talking about MY hubby.

Polish Pierogi, an Ethnic COMFORT Food  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
They are half circular dumplings of unleavened dough stuffed with cheese, mashed potato, cabbage, dry cottage cheese, assorted meats and fruits! Growing up in Northeastern Ohio, I can tell you that we ate lots and lots of pierogi! The varieties I remember having most often included stuffings of mashed potato, kraut, dry cottage cheese [my favorite], and PRUNE!

Kifli: A Traditional Hungarian Pastry  [ Edit ]  Site Reviews (0)
A variation on the traditional Hungarian Butter Horns, Kifli is a crescent-shaped pastry. Kifli is a traditional Hungarian pastry made by cutting sheets of soft flour dough into triangular wedges, and wrapping those wedges to create a crescent-shaped morsel, which is then baked. I think of them as a variation on the Hungarian Butter Horns.
